Salvia sylvestris 'Blue Queen' (Seeds)
  • Salvia sylvestris 'Blue Queen' (Seeds)

    $4.50Price

10 open pollinated seeds from our gardens.

Salvia x sylvestris 'Blue Queen' is a perennial with a rich display of spiky bright violet-blue flowers in the early summer border. Remove faded blooms to encourage repeat flowering. Drought tolerant once established. Also tolerates heat and humidity and is frost hardy. Height 50cm.

    Excellent for cut flowers.

Sow seeds indoors 6 to weeks before the last frost or direct sow after the last frost.  My prefernce is to sow seeds in pots regardless.  Seeds need light to germinate so sprinkle on top of the potting mix and gently water in.  Keep moist but not wet.  Germination is in 21-30 days if kept at around 20C. Transplant salvia seedlings into the garden, after all danger of frost.

Also known as Woodland Sage, Salvia x superba, Salvia x sylvestris, and Salvia nemerosa 'Blaukonigen'.
