Indigofera Decora – Summer Wisteria (Seeds)

$4.50Price

5 open pollinated seeds from our gardens.

A deciduous shrub with a spreading habit and arching branches. Long, slender spikes of mauve, pea-shaped flowers are borne at the ends of the branches creating a drooping, pendulous appearance. Flowers during spring to early summer. This is a great choice for shady areas because of its ability to flower in quite deep shade.  Grow in well drained soil.  Height to 1.5m.  I grow mine over a small trellis.  Effective as a shrubby ground cover for slopes.

Seeds are sown in autumn.  Note the seeds may benefit from scarification before sowing. Carefully give the side of the seed a gentle rub with sandpaper.  The germination can be variable so be patient. Prick out the seedlings when large enough to handle and plant on.   Grow seedlings for the fist year in their pot and plant out the following spring after frost has passed.

Also known as Chinese indigo.
