Echinops ritro 'Veitch's Blue' - Globe Thistle (Seeds)

Considered by most growers as the loveliest Globe Thistle. Echinops ritro 'Veitch's Blue' is a particularly attractive globe thistle, bearing tight globes of deep blue flowers that are the size of golf balls. It's extremely attractive to bees, butterflies and other insects.  This perennial grows to around 90cm and prefers full sun and well drained soil. It is drought tolerant but can benefit from deep watering during dry spells.
 
Excellent cut flower and suitable for drying. Flowers more than once during the season.
 
Sow seeds in autumn to early winter in 7cm (3in) as the seedlings need a lot of root room to get started. Press the seeds to make contact with the soil and just cover them with a light sprinkling of soil.  Depending on temperatures, the seeds can be quick to germinate.  These seedlings will needto and grow for another year before planting outside the following spring.
