Thalictrums would have to be one of the prettiest woodland plants. They grow in height from 20cm up to 2m. This perennial species typically grows 60 to 90cm tall and features lacy, fine-textured, bluish-green foliage that resembles those of a Columbine. From late spring to early summer the fuzzy white or mauve flowers appear.

Thalictrums prefer a humus rich soil on the moist side and light, dappled sun, but will grow reasonably well in most borders and tolerates partial shade. Thalictrums are fairly tolerant of warm, humid summers. In warm regions plants will need to be kept moist. Grow these plants in woodland, wildflower gardens or meadows.
Both the leaves and flowers are excellent for flower arrangements.

Sow our freshly harvested seeds in autumn as they need several months in cold, damp compost, to germinate. Keep the pots moist but not wet. Seed are very slow to germinate, so be patient. Do not use any artificial heat in an attempt to germinate these seeds.
