Field Notes on Sweet Peas (1917)

The son of CC Morse of Morse and Co, Lester published Field Notes on Sweet Peas (1917). The majority of this book was a catalogue of all the varieties and cultivars — English, American, and other nationalities — in existence prior to that date.

This publication is a rich source of information and is still used by Sweet Pea breeders and specialists today.

Morse and Co by 1910 had 400 acres of sweet peas under cultivation in California which made them one of the largest growers. In the 1930s they merged with DM Ferry to form Ferry-Morse Seeds.

Sweet peas grace the back cover of Morse’s Garden Book, 1911.
