Disporum cantoniense 'Night Heron'

This is one of the tallest forms with arching bamboo like dark stems adorned with narrow leaves that emerge dark purple in spring and turn green as the weather warms. Racemes of small bell shaped white flowers tinged in green emerge from the leaf axis in spring and develop into purplish black berries in the late summer. Perennial growing up to 1.8m. This is a plant for shade gardens. I have mine growing in my Gothic Stumpery and woodland gardens.
