Anthriscus sylvestris ‘Ravenswing’

Anthriscus sylvestris 'Ravenswing' (Cow Parsley) is a particularly decorative biennial or short-lived perennial. Ravenswing bears clusters of tiny, cream-white flowers which contrast beautifully with the lacy, dark purple foliage. It takes two years to flower from seed, after which the plant will die.

This plant is perfect for growing in informal borders, cottage gardens or Gothic gardens. It is also compliments ornamental grasses and wildflower / meadow gardens. Anthriscus sylvestris ‘Ravenswing’ prefers well-drained soil in full sun and will self-seed readily. Too much shade results in green leaves. It makes a dramatic cut flower. Ravenswing grows to around 50cm tall and as wide.

Due to its long taproot, seeds are best sown directly where they are to grow. If you do want to start the seeds off in pots, please remember this when transplanting out into the garden.

Sow in spring/summer just under the surface of the well-cultivated soil and lightly cover the seeds. Water regularly, especially in dry periods. Germination will normally occur in 8 to 10 weeks dependent on temperatures.

Do not plant in areas where carrot seed is produced as it will hybridise.
